CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE

CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE

As architects, our role is to create great buildings that work well, are cost effective and are a pleasure to use. Our aim is to integrate those buildings into their context and to maximise their potential to help the wider area to flourish or to promote its regeneration. We believe in simplicity and that coherent and modest buildings, informed by an integrated approach to sustainability and longevity, are more likely to stand the test of time. And our interest in craft and in quality underpins the technical rigour of our approach, from the macro through to the micro scales.

HISTORIC BUILDINGS

HISTORIC BUILDINGS

We are adept at placing confident, resonant, modern development into historic settings, making beautiful interventions in precious places including listed buildings.

INTERIORS

INTERIORS

Through our background in also designing interiors, we create fully-integrated interiors within our architectural projects, as well as stand-alone interior spaces. Careful analysis of the client or operator brief and an understanding of the end-user is the foundation of our approach. We produce spaces that are not only memorable, but that also respond to the buildings they form part of, whether new or old. We avoid fashion, instead taking a strong interest in the applications of materials, the development of details and the use of light, to produce spaces designed to endure.

LANDSCAPES

LANDSCAPES

As part of our focus on integrating our buildings with their surroundings, we have a long history of designing the landscapes which surround them.

ABOUT

Based close to the border between Lancashire and Yorkshire, we offer a full range of architectural services to discerning clients.

The Experience Matters!

Paul Foxley has over 30 years experience in housing, one-off houses, commercial, healthcare, education and retail sectors, applying his design flair and attention to detail to all aspects of a project.

Choose your architect with care. Undertaking an architectural project without adequate help can be extremely stressful, as anyone who has watched Grand Designs will know. Having a safe pair of hands like Paul’s to guide you every step of the way can ensure your experience is a pleasurable one. Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Enjoying your finished building project for years to come can be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. To ensure your experience is one of sheer delight, your architect needs to go far beyond meeting your practical needs to give you a well designed and beautifully executed piece of architecture. Give yourself the thrill you deserve.

We place considerable emphasis on a detailed analysis of the brief and the development of a clear understanding of the aspirations of our clients. Our designs then evolve as a direct response to this, and to their context, in order to create good places that complement and add to their locality, offer delight to those who use them and foster community.

Architecture is seen as being technology-based, so it is often assumed that as architects we are more concerned with science than art. This is not the case. We see ourselves more as artists than technicians and our primary concerns are with aesthetics not calculations. We embrace the latest technology and our buildings function fantastically, but we are also passionate about what our buildings look like and how they feel. Technology is for us a vital means to an exciting end. Our aim is always to lift the spirit and delight our client.

I once applied for a job where Paul had previously worked and during the interview I mentioned I had worked for Paul for a number of years. I was offered the job on the strength of that connection. This gives you some idea of the measure of Paul as an architect. I can't vouch for the film making though but imagine it'll be to the same exacting standards...
